The Art of War by Sun-tzu (Sunzi Bing Fa, "Master Sun's Rules of Warfare") is an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from the 5th century BC. Attributed to the ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu – (Sunzi or Sun-tzu, "Master Sun") of the late Autumn and Spring Period (circa. 771 to 476 BC), the text is composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare. This edition of The Art of War is a compilation of Sun-tzu’s text and the commentaries from eleven well-known Chinese military experts over the past two millennia, the first of such commentaries being penned by none other than Cao Cao, the famed lord of the Three Kingdoms period (circa. 115 – 220 AD).
