This Tang Dynasty short essay contains some of the most quoted sayings in the Chinese literature:

山不在高, 有仙则名。水不在深,有龙则灵.  .... 斯是陋室,惟吾德馨, ...孔子云:何陋之有?

English translation:
"
A mountain needn't be high, with a god's dwelling it then gains its fame.
A lake needn't be deep;  with a dragon's reining it then becomes supernatural.
My hut is humble, only my pursuit of virtue holds dear;
.....
As Confucius says, No hut is humble where lives a virtuous man."
